"Students who are unable to select a space, or who choose not to participate in Phase 3, will be administratively assigned over the summer. Based on the current selection trend, there will be a limited number of spaces available for students to select in the coming days and some students will likely not be able to select a room
Students who are unable to select a space during this process are welcome to submit assignment preferences via the following web form https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NYU-ORLHS-AdminAssignPref.
Please be assured that these assignments will be made as soon as possible and with all due consideration to the student’s submitted preferences."
Ah, so last year there were people who were placed during the summer, and another lot who were put up in a hotel for a while in fall. Anyone know how that worked out? When do spaces start opening up? Where might they be?
I was really hoping for less adventure this time.

| Did they change the priority levels or something |
[14 Apr 2011|06:45am] |
When I wasn't looking?
Last year I was a junior and by the time that I chose all that was left was Laff, and only a few room there. Now this year, I don't pick until Friday, and it is looking like instant re-play time.
Or are juniors still waiting for next week, and if so, where are they going to go? They didn't up and sell another dorm, did they?
Or did they fiddle with the priority groups, and I am just individually screwed again? (Not just me, my two friends picking Friday are also seniors.) What gives?

|
| Any updates on availability? |
[13 Apr 2011|05:13pm] |
I don't choose until Friday morning, and it sounds as if things are already pretty grim, and it's only Wednesday! This seems even worse than last year when I was a junior. It was supposed to be better for this time, senior year and all....
There are three of us who just want to get in a suite together. A triple would be great, but even all in the same quad? Any chance in Carlyle? Or Second Street?
If so, is in only bunked rooms, or what? What's still left now?
The one comment said Laff was almost filled...wtf?

Does anyone know what's left in the lottery? Going in as a single, looking for either a single room or a single spot.... prefer anything but laf

Sooooo. I gather they are bigger above the 7th floor. And that the top floor (12?) has some bigger units. How big is big? Are there suites for three or four people? Are the kitchens "full-sized"? Do the beds have to be bunked? I'm having trouble figuring this out from what's on-line. lw

| Triples? Other tha Lafayette, where are they? |
[22 Mar 2011|04:52pm] |
I'm trying to figure it out from the housing guide, and the rates table, and the old Wiki page. Would soooooo prefer not to inflict ourselves on some poor fourth person in a quad.

| Room change/2nd St |
[24 Feb 2011|11:30pm] |
Anyone know how long it takes for a room change to go through? I was told it shouldn't take too long, but I'm sort of desperate.
Also- for all you looking at housing for next year.... Make sure you really like who you live with if you're going to live in 2nd street. It's really, really cramped. I'm in an -06 room below the 7th floor. Beds are bunked- there may be a way to fit them unbunked, but after measuring things for a bit we just gave up. If you're someone who needs a lot of space *cough*roommate *cough*, then you should probably look elsewhere. Not that it's a terrible dorm- there are awesome programs and it's a pretty good location- but you really have to like who you live with.

| Hi, all! |
[08 Jan 2011|10:55pm] |
I am a second semester grad student who is moving into Alumni Hall(I commuted my first semester).
I applied and got accepted to on campus housing, and requested Alumni Hall as my first request (I saw that certain floors hold graduate students and was told this by Residential Life) and I got my request. However, I am living with undergraduates. Is this common? I thought that I would be with graduate students like myself.
I totally looked through all the memories and all the posts in this community and it was VERY helpful. Does anybody care to share their experience on Alumni and tell of its amenities? I've found some stuff online that says it's a great dorm, but the pictures that I have found aren't that great despite what people say. Thoughts? Pictures would be cool, too. I'm living in an L apartment if that matters.
Also, could anyone define "courtyard" view? lol
Enjoy the rest of vacation!

| Return from study abroad |
[14 Nov 2010|08:33am] |
Anyone have any experience with returning from study abroad? I'm coming back for the spring semester, so I'm just wondering what the situation might be like with people leaving housing and thus providing space for me.
The housing application form is already up, so I see that we list our dorms in order of preference. Anyone know what happens from here? Does NYU pay any attention to my priorities, or do they pick a room out of a hat for each person? Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.

Hey everyone! I got an awesome room in Third North, it's three bedroom suite with a common room and kitchen, but really wanted one in Hayden. Would anyone in Hayden want to switch with me?
I already contacted Housing about this, it can be done. Message me or comment this, thanks guys!

I'll be sayin' "hello" to Hayden in less than a month, and I was just wondering if anyone had the specs--view, space, et cetera--on this particular room (specifically whether or not we have suitemates). Thanks.

| Second Street -06 below 7th floor |
[21 Jul 2010|03:09pm] |
Hi! I was wondering if anyone had any information about -06 rooms in Second Street. I lived there last spring, but on the 11th floor in a relatively decent sized room- no bunk beds. Anyway, I was just curious as to whether or not I'll have to bunk beds this year. Thanks so much!

Any information on West 13th that DOES NOT involve just talking about the tunnel, slow elevators and neighborhood? I've gone back five years and that's what is repeated in almost every W13th post.
I'm in a double studio, so information about that will be very appreciated. THANK YOU!

I was just assigned to Alumni Hall AH-008F2-1 for the summer. Any info on this room? And why on earth doesn't NYU put floor plans online?? That's common practice for every school I've ever looked at.
Thanks!

| Hmmmm.... So what now? |
[01 May 2010|12:32pm] |
There look to be about a dozen beds left in Lafayette - low cost triples, mostly. Any idea how many people are still without assignments? They say that on-line room selection continues until May 5th, I think it was. Does that mean there are still people with registration windows opening, or is this just extra time for stragglers? So, uh, what now?
